Chicago Commons partners with individuals, families, and communities to overcome poverty, discrimination, and isolation. Chicago Commons creates programs that build self-sufficiency, strengthening individuals at key stages of their lives.
Does Chicago Commons serve the entire city?
Chicago Commons serves both the West and South sides of Chicago. More specifically, there are three neighborhoods where we focus our efforts - West Humboldt Park, Pilsen and Back of the Yards (also known as New City).
How is Chicago Commons funded?
We receive funding from a variety of charitable foundations, corporations, government agencies and through individual donations.
How can I find what jobs are available at Chicago Commons?
Chicago Commons posts all available jobs at our eleven locations and a list can be obtained by calling our Human Resources office at 773-638-5600. Some positions are also posted online at www.npo.net.
How do I volunteer with Chicago Commons?
Chicago Commons operates a diverse range of programs and has a similarly diverse range of volunteer opportunities. Each program division of Chicago Commons coordinates their own volunteer opportunities. Refer to our list of locations and call the location that interests you the most.
How do I go about donating items to Chicago Commons?

What is the relationship between Chicago Commons and United Way?
United Way has funded the programs and services of Chicago Commons since its inception as the Community Fund of Chicago nearly 70 years ago. Today, we apply through a competitive process each year for United Way funding. This year, United Way funding accounts for 3% of our total agency revenue.
