Do you need something to do with your friends after school that’s really fun, and can help you with your homework, too?

If you live in New City/Back of the Yards, Englewood, Pilsen or West Humboldt Park, you can join the Chicago Commons’ Common Ground for Youth program. It is divided into two parts: the Nuevos Exitos for 5th through 8th graders, and the Nuevos Futuros program for high school students. Our programs will help you develop your own unique talent and abilities, leadership skills and make healthy life choices. But most of all, they are a lot of fun!

Are you in middle school?

Nuevos Exitos - If you are in the 5th through the 8th grade and live in New City/Back of the Yards, Englewood or West Humboldt Park, you can participate in our after-school and summer programs. We will organize field trips, arts and community projects for you and your friends, help with school work and provide time and space for you to work on the computer, read, or just hang out together.

Are you in high school?

Nuevos Futuros - If you are in high school and live in New City/Back of the Yards, Englewood, Pilsen or West Humboldt Park, join us for our after-school and summer programs. You will concentrate on what you want to do after high school, careers you want to explore, and even what the road to college could look like for you. You will do arts and recreation activities, take field trips to the beach, movies, museums, cultural productions and events, and sometimes just hang.

Are you a junior or senior and would like to have a paid internship with a mentor?

R.I.S.E. is our high school program for high school juniors and seniors in New City /Back of the Yards, Englewood, Pilsen and West Humboldt Park. It is designed to provide you with leadership development activities, access to career mentoring and paid internships. As a participant in R.I.S.E., you will participate in a series of leadership development, career-oriented activities designed to help you identify what you want to do after high school, and give you first hand knowledge of the road to college. You will be placed in a 16-week internship that will provide a structured learning experience, along with a mentor on site to support you along the way. In the spring, you will have the opportunity to visit several colleges and universities to see what might be interesting to you.
