Peter Horne served on the Chicago Commons Board of Directors for 18 years. He guided the organization with steady leadership and deep commitment. His dedication was inspired by his mother, Frances “Bunny” Horne, who also served on the board for 16 years and believed deeply in supporting families and children.
Through his estate, Peter left a $10,000 gift to Chicago Commons, and he asked that the gift be credited to his mother in recognition of her values and leadership. This contribution helped complete the fundraising for the new playground at Nia Family Center. The playground features the ideas and planning from the Nia students through their Reggio Emilia learning approach study.
Thanks to the Hornes’ generosity, children at Nia Family Center now have a safe and joyful place to play, a legacy of their family’s care and commitment to our mission.
